If you want a few tips for a happy and contented old age, Joyce and Leslie Williams from Brecon could help.
The couple have both received telegrams from the Queen - Joyce this June, when she reached her hundredth birthday, and Leslie more than two years ago - as he heads for his 103rd birthday.
Children from Mount Street Infants and Junior School sang Happy Birthday to Joyce while Town Crier Marie Matthews announced the good news.
There were also cards and gifts brought from Brecon Town Council by Mayor David Meredith and Powys Council Chairman Gareth Ratcliffe.
After the big day, the couple sat down with Brecon Story to film an interview about their early lives, how they started courting while both serving in the armed services in World War Two and their memories of coming back to Wales and farming in the Breconshire countryside.
Describing their first meeting, Joyce laughs as she recalls thinking “Well, actually he was Welsh and I said ‘I don’t really like Welsh people, but I was completely wrong.”
The couple also talk about how local farms helped to avoid the rationing of post-war Britain, the big freeze of 1947 and dressing up for market day in Brecon.
They also reveal their secrets for a long and successful life.
