The streets of Brecon were vibrant with celebration, in commemoration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. The appreciation for her 70 years of service to the UK were contained within a four-day period of varying festivities; from a street party in Lion Street, to a Freddy Mercury tribute act (Luke as Freddy) at the Promenade bandstand.

Local businesses also joined in on the celebrations, with banners and bunting lining the shops along High Street Inferior and High Street Superior. As well as
the decorations, gifted by the efforts of the young people who joined the team at Saint Mary’s Church for their Messy Jubilee event, the town was graced with
the presence of the Cosplay Queen, and her friendly pet dinosaur.

During this time, there were a host of stalls, offering up a range of souvenirs to remember the Jubilee by; whether that be with a pair of Union Jack boots or a thick, hand-crafted blanket – to remember the warmth of Brecon’s collective joy at such a special time in the UK’s history.

From the cry of the Town Crier, to the singing bells, to the choirs of voices and street parties that resounded through Brecon, there was an enchanting sense of community and camaraderie. A grand display of appreciation from all those who embraced the opportunity to join together in celebration now exists as a part of Brecon’s Story, and will live forever in its history.
